Saints vs Bucs Week 14
In week 14 of the 2011 NFL Season the New Orleans Saints traveled to Tennessee to play their first out door game since week 6 and that game was against the Bucs in Florida, “The Sunshine State”.
I’m not a big believer in warm weather/dome teams not being able to bare the elements, but the Saints may have trouble if they had to travel to Green Bay. Not because they’re a “Dome Team”, but because they’re a finesse team.
A Win But Lack Luster Play
They traveled to Tennessee and played well, but they didn’t play anything like they did in the 2 previous weeks while hosting the Giants and the Lions in the Super Dome. Bottom line, they came away with a W improving their record to 10 and 3 clinching a playoff berth and all but mathematically looking up a NFC South Title.
They also took a step closer to finishing as the NFC’s 2 seed by winning and with San Francisco losing to the suddenly much improved Arizona Cardinals.
Race is On
Now the race is on – the Saints and the 9ers are both 10 and 3 they haven’t played each other so the tie breaker goes right to division record where the 9ers have the edge.
All 3 of the Saints losses have come in the NFC, but just 2 of the 9ers 3 loses have come in the NFC making them 8 and 2 in the conference while the Saints are 6 and 3.
NFC – Check Out the Saints Schedule Here
The Saints have 3 NFC match-ups left, if they win out they’ll finish 13 and 3 with a 9 and 3 Conference record. If the 9ers win out they’ll also finish 13 and 3 but with a 10 and 2 Conference record giving them the edge for the 2 seed.
However, 3 weeks is an eternity in the NFL, and in reality the Saints haven’t even clichéd the division yet with Atlanta still on the schedule.
Blizzard in Green Bay?
The Saints are obviously an elite team, but if they had to travel to Green Bay to play the Packers in a blizzard I’m sorry to say, they stand no chance.
With the way they play, down the field passing on offense and speed and blitzing on defense, a climate control building gives them their best chance at their 2nd Super Bowl in just 3 years.
